it all depends on the Hospital and ON THE SPECIALTY.

I can only speak for Orthopaedics where if you are a registrar of ANY GRADE (call it LAT/LAS/ST3/Staff grade/FTSTA/Fellow etc) you get lots of experience.

Personally, I ve done only one year as a trust SHO at a junior pre-MRCS level 2 in 2007. The amount of training and cutting I got there was pretty much satisfactory.

It all depends on how you sell yourself, if you ve done exams and how well you know your field.

In orthopaedics for example if you r AO,MRCS+,Orthopaedic Courses + and there is for example a hemi or a nail on the trauma list, even as an SHO most people would just give it to you.

It's a non-training post with whatever that entails.

If that's what you want, then go for it. It's double the money compared to what a trainee ST1 banded 2b would get outside London (that's after tax, NI contributions and pension deductions).

Εγώ βρίσκω locum με £53/hour (pre tax), SHO level, ένα τσιγάρο δρόμο από την αποπάνω.

Μήπως τελικά να το ρίξω στα λεφτά?

It is for 9 weeks, it is CARDIOLOGY in a hospital with Cardiac catheterisation lab.

I want to be an Interventional Cardiologist....

I feel like I won the lottery now, I will practically live and breathe in the Cardiology Department

I will have some money in my pocket for my interventional training

And I will try and keep contact with them

1. This is far from my expectations when I came in GB in August

2. I am sleeping with cardiology secrets

3. I remember the days when I worked in Greece for a piece of bread..... I do not think I will be returning back now

Maybe for vacation...

So my advice for people still thinking about the UK is:

book your tickets.

Fact is I begun in August as F2 , I am now CT1 and I have an interview for CT2 Diabetology in December.

I’m sure lots of people are very interested in your career path

How did the diabetology interview go? Shouldn’t you still be working as a CT1?! Or did I miscount the months?...

Anything you can fit in before the application is a plus…

That said, to my knowledge, there is no requirement at CT1 (or above) for any of these.

I haven’t done any of these courses.

Have you considered the TIPS 1 ?

I am replying quickly because I am in a block of night shifts and I have browser problems

1.I am not moonlighting, I am just pointing out that "O TOLMON NIKA" worked for me

2.Stupidly I didnt go to the CT2 Diabetology interview thinking I was underqualified

and prefered CT1 General Medicine Interview in Bradford the same day.

AVOID BRADFORD BY ANY MEANS my advice.

3.Sure I am not successful at any interview I go, but I managed to get a few jobs,

and a consultant promise "Twe will ge you where you want to be"

4.My main qualification now in my opinion is Good English reference from an MAU consultant.

Thats all folks, and if you dont believe me I will post my payslips...

CMT 1 μισθός £29411 το χρόνο (με 2 χρόνια στο NHS)+ 40% banding (εάν είσαι 2b banded, most of juniors are 2b nowadays)

Deductions: tax approx £546/month, NI £278/month, pension £159/month + student loan (for uk graduates)

Αυτά είναι από payslip CMT 1 το Δεκέμβριο 2009. θα σ'αφήσω ppalios να κάνεις εσύ τους υπολογισμούς πόσο έρχεται το μήνα

Μας κάνεις και εμάς που είμαστε εκ των έσω να βλέπουμε τα πράγματα με διαφορετικό μάτι και να εκτιμάμε καταστάσεις που δυστυχώς τις έχουμε δεδομένες...

Απλά θα ήθελα να σου πω, αν πραγματικά θες να μείνεις εδώ να ολοκληρώσεις την ειδικότητά σου, προσπάθησε να χτυπήσεις κάποιο training post/training programme, γιατί αλλιώς δε θα μπορέσεις να μπεις στο σύστημα και μόνο μπαλώματα θα κάνεις από εδώ και από εκεί.

Πραγματικά στο λέω εντελώς φιλικά και εύχομαι να πάνε όλα όπως επιθυμείς.

Στο νοσοκομείο που αναφέρεται ο Cadaver, πέρυσι, πρώτο χρόνο μεντ ρετζ πλήρωναν £32/hr, ST2 £30/hr, FY2 £28/hr from their bank of own doctors for locum (that's when someone did not turn up and there were a couple of hours to cover before the next shift started.) I never had to do with agencies, so I wouldn't know.

Τώρα, γιατί ζητούσαν surgical SHO £53/hr δε γνωρίζω. Ίσως να τον είδαν ομορφόπαιδο

α) Προφανές ότι ένα ομορφόπαιδο σαν εμένα θα έπαιρνε κάτι παραπάνω

β) Αυτές είναι οι τιμές για internal locum, ie πληρώνεις την pas moi που είναι ήδη εργαζόμενη σου να κάνει μερικές ώρες παραπάνω. Η τιμή που ανέφερα εγώ είναι agency rate. Δηλαδή μια συμφωνία με πρακτορείο που παρέχει γιατρούς για νοσοκομεία που τους χρειάζονται "επειγόντως". Αυτός πάντως ήταν ήδη εκεί 6 μήνες όταν έφυγα εγώ. Και επειδή κάποιος θα το σκέφτεται, δηλαδή αντί να πληρώσουν εμένα £30/h σαν internal locum πληρώνουν £52 (τον γιατρό) + £40 (το πρακτορείο) /h . £35 vs £100 /h χονδρικά.

...Σεριαλ λοκουμ κάνεις?Δεν έχεις τελειώσει το ΦΥ όπως νόμιζα, ούτε θα έχεις τελειώσει το ΣΤ1 μέχρι τον αυγ του 2010.Λάθος μου που είπα οτι κρίμα που θα επαναλαβεις το ΣΤ1, όντως δεν ήσουν ελιτζιμπλ για ΣΤ2.Δεν θέλω να σε προσγειώσω απότομα,γιατί πραγματικά πιστεύω ότι είσαι αξιέπαινος, αλλά μέχρι να πάρεις σαμπσταντιβ θέση, ο 'μύθος' παραμένει.Ένα απο τα χαρακτηριστικά του ιατρού που εκτιμώνται αγγλια είναι η ικανότητα να δέχεται το φιντμπακ: λυπάμαι αλλά τα αγγλικα σου δεν νομίζω ότι είναι σε επίπεδο ΙΕΛΤΣ >7.Αν δεν κάνεις κάτι, δεν θα καταφέρεις ούτε ιντερβιου να πάρεις συμπληρώνοντας την αίτηση με αυτό το επίπεδο γλωσσης.Αν φυσικά δεν ψάχνεις οργανική θέση, μια χαρά πας!

Δεν προκειται να αναλωθώ σε συζητήσεις για τα μισθολογικά - τόσα χρόνια εδώ πέρα νομίζω πως ξέρω τι γίνεται. Επίσης δεν θες να δέις το payslip μου, με μερικές WLI λίστες το μήνα διπλασιάζεις το μισθό σου κόβοντας.

Banding: 1a: 50%, 1b: 40%, 2a: 80%, 2b: 50%, 3: 100%. Αν σας δίνουν κάτι λιγότερο, go to BMA.

Επίσης, ο μισθός εξαρτάται σε ποιο χρόνο είσαι, και μετρά η προυπηρεσία στην Ελλάδα - πρεπει να το κυνηγήσεις λίγο.

Όντως, δεν φαίνεται να ξέρεις τι παίζει εδώ πέρα. Ο μύθος στο νησί (που παραμένει) είναι να πάρεις registrar δουλειά (ST3 and above, με ΝΤΝ) έχοντας περάσει τις εξετάσεις σου. Πιο εύκολο είναι να πάρεις CT1-CT2, αλλά ούτε αυτό έχεις πάρει - απλά έχεις κάνει καλές δουλειές, με καλό επίπεδο εκπαίδευσης (ισάξιο με CT), αλλά είναι locum, τουτέστιν έχουν ανάγκη από κάποιον, και όχι πολλές πολυτέλειες επιλογών. Πολλές από αυτές τις θέσεις δεν γεμίζουν ποτέ, και τις καλύπτουμε με internal locum.
