Wicked Witch Δημοσιεύτηκε 30 Ιουνίου 2013 Aναφορά Share Δημοσιεύτηκε 30 Ιουνίου 2013 (τροποποιήθηκε) Do you actually have a greek CCT? http://www.mmc.nhs.uk/default.aspx?page=911 Ophthalmology training as greeks know it follows core medical training. You can't go into CT1 : too experienced http://www.mmc.nhs.uk/pdf/PS%202013%20CT1%20CMTnew.pdf You can't go into CT2/ST3: lacking the MRCP Part 1 http://www.mmc.nhs.uk/pdf/PS%202013%20CT2%20CMTnew.pdf As illustrated above, it will not be possible to 'retrain' / continue training in ophthalmology in the UK. You could apply at entry level for any other non 'medical' specialty' but this would mean 6 + years of training in order to reach CCT level , not to mention a complete career change, You could give these people a ring and make enquiries whether your greek CCT would count as 'MRCoph equivalent': http://jobs.kch.nhs.uk/job/-v280453?ss=2&nc=65311372257318 You could apply for staff/trust grade clinical jobs: http://www.jobs.nhs.uk/ If you have funds and you are looking for something specific (no idea what ophthalmologists really do!) Google your thing, cross reference with wotever UK hospital comes up, call switch, get in touch with the consultant's secretary and ask for the consultant's email. Send a very polite email and ask if you could organise to be an observer for a wee while. Note, this option is completely depended on self funding + GMC rego. These people are NOT a job finding agency, however you could contact them and ask if they could possibly put you in touch with a greek ophalmologist practising in the UK who could give you some insider's tips. http://www.hellenicmedicalsocietyuk.org/index.php For the record: There are no more SpR/ SHOS. These grades were abolished in 2007 .To -date people still affectionately refer to core trainees(CT1-2/3) as SHOs and higher trainees (ST3/4-6) as SpRs. SpR as an entity ...is actually defined by the SpR contract, now confined to history and forgotten had an NTN and more time allocated for special interest and research than STRs. Wicked Witch Δημοσιεύτηκε 1 Ιουλίου 2013 Aναφορά Share Δημοσιεύτηκε 1 Ιουλίου 2013 (τροποποιήθηκε) The problem is not that we disagree, but the fact that you don't understand the concept of a nation wide training contract. )) The Gold Guide is not psych specific, its for all medical/surgical specialties. Your adverts ARE wrong! The terminology is wrong. There.Is.No.Such.Thing.As.An.SpR these days....there is plenty of middle grades, and juniors but SpR contracts are no longer issued. The SpR pay scale is no longer in use : all your 'SpRs' ( in reality middle grades and higher STs) are on the speciality reg pay scale. If anyone's stuck in da past its you surgeons! Almost everyone still introduces themselves as a 'reg' (I call myself a 'reg'!) or 'SHO' but that's only for the sake of convenience and convention. This is a history lesson, and clearly you are not only clueless but also stubborn. Like an SpR but not quite is how people like you get duped. You should care deeply whether you are an STR or SpR, or wotever is coming coz it has significant implications for your pay , training curriculum, study leave and a/l, special interest and research allowances and EWTD. Its very true, I am a psych, not a medic or surgeon. If I ever post something that's not quite right feel free to correct me! ....I am right about the SPR thing though http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Specialist_registrar PS The wolf was right :MRCP should read MRCOph Τροποποιήθηκε 1 Ιουλίου 2013 από Mistress Bellissa Παράθεση Link to comment Μοιράσου σε άλλους δικτυακούς τόπους

Alexandros Boukas Δημοσιεύτηκε 6 Ιουλίου 2013 Aναφορά Share Δημοσιεύτηκε 6 Ιουλίου 2013 you will be granted with full registration by GMC. (not provisional) IELTS are NECESSARY if you apply for the whole foundation programme (applications I think October) to start next August. For LAT/LAS posts you MIGHT need IELTS, you need to check the person specifications of each advertisement. But the most important way to assess your linguistic competency is in the interview. You might even get shortlisted without IELTS. I got a LAT FY1 (in 2009 - 2010) with proficiency dated late 90s and no IELTS.
