Επέζησε βάρβαρο ξυλοδαρμό στην περίφημη αίθουσα 619 του Πορτ Ελίζαμπεθ. Η ζωή του έσβησε καθώς κινούνταν προς την Πρετόρια σε ένα Land Rover, γυμνός και φρικτά παραμορφωμένος.
