Γράφτηκε από τον θρυλικό τραγουδιστή και

συνθέτη της φολκ μουσικής Γούντι Γκάθρι.

Ο "κομμουνιστής" ιδεολογικά Γούντι υπήρξε

ανένδοτος αντιφασίστας και πλήρωσε την προσήλωσή

του στην ανακούφιση του πάσχοντος ανθρώπου

με την καταγραφή του ονόματός του στη

μαυρη λίστα του Μακαρθικού παρακράτους.

Υποφέροντας από μια ανίατη κληρονομική

νευρική ασθένεια έζησε το σύντομο βίο του

συνεχώς μετακινούμενος.

Πέθανε σαν σήμερα το 1967, σε ηλικία 55

ετών, έχοντας αφήσει πίσω του εκατοντάδες

επιτυχίες για μικρούς και μεγάλους θαυμαστές

και έχοντας επηρεάσει σπουδαίους μουσικούς,

όπως ο Μπομπ Ντίλαν, η Πάτι Σμιθ και ο Μπρους Σπρίνγκστιν.
