Δεν θελω βασικα να σας κουρασω θα σας πω απλα το σκεπτικο μου.Ειμαι στο Θριασιο και τον ιουλιο τελειωνω τα πρωτα 2 χρονια της ειδικοτητας μου στη μαιευτικη-γυναικολογια.Η θεση μου ανοιξε ηδη στο αλεξανδρα το οποιο ειναι γνωστο οτι ειναι ενα νοσοκομειο που για να χειρουργησεις χρειαζεσαι μπαρμπα και επειδη εχω ψηλοτερες προσδοκιες σκεφτομαι για αγγλια,ουτως η αλλως θεωρω οτι στο Αλεξανδρα δεν προκειται να κανω κατι παραπανω απο οτι ηδη εχω κανει.Η προοπτικη μου ειναι να μπω στο συστημα εκει και να τελειωσω εκει την ειδικευση να γινω FRCOG.Εχω περασει το ΜRCOg part 1 και εχω το Advanced life support cource in obstetrcs.H εμπειρια μου ειναι αρκετα καλη με την εννοια οτι στεκομαι μονος μου να κανω μια καισαρικη να ανοιξω μια κοιλια η να κανω εναν υποβοηθουμενο τοκετο κλπ.(στο Θριασιο ειχαμε καλη πρακτικη εμπειρια) αλλα πραγματα φυσικα δεν ξερω να κανω μεταλλικους εμβρυουλκους ληψη αιματος για ph απο κεφαλη εμβρυου κα.

Σκεφτομαι να ψαξω για ενα λοκουμ αρχικα και μετα να ψαξω στο recruitment 2013 το νοεμβριο και δεκεμβριο για ST1 -ST2.

ΠΙστευεετε οτι εχω καμια πιθανοτητα; Καποια καλη συμβουλη θα την εκτιμουσα.Ελπιζω να μη κουρασα.

Beware of the person specification experience caps.

You are probably too experienced for ST1,

and I'm not sure about ST2....but even if you get a job at ST2 level you might not get a full CCT because you didn't complete your training from scratch in the UK...

You could always finish your training in Greece and then seek a permanent staff grade job in the UK.

There are simple heuristics you can try to calculate anyone's chances of success (=CCT)

1.If the starting UK training level is anything but CT1= Zilts (the individual will have to get on the UK specialist register through the article 14 route)

People who think that spending a couple of years training in Greece and then applying at a higher level in the UK is a good idea are...in for a big nasty surprise.

2.Experience caps are in place for most specialties. See above.

If you are desperate to leave greece...and have missed the boat for your chosen speciality, the only way out is to try for something else, and start from scratch.

If you are young and still in med school the US is prolly a better option.

This is not because its 'better training' but coz the UK is not doing that well financially...

Προσπαθώ να σου στείλω προσωπικό μήνυμα, αλλά δεν γίνεται δεκτό.

Οπότε, να ζητήσω συγγνώμη από τα υπόλοιπα μέλη για το "off-topic".

Παρακολουθώ όλες τις συζητήσεις σχετικά με την ειδίκευση στο UK και έχω δει ότι συχνά γράφεις ότι είναι ακατόρθωτο να πάρει κανείς CCT αν δεν έχει κάνει όλη την εκπαίδευσή του εδώ. Να υποθέσω ότι αναφέρεσαι στην δυσκολία μετάβασης από το ένα σύστημα στο άλλο και στην διαφορά του training process που το κάνουν ανέφικτο ή πρακτικά αρνούνται να σου δώσουν training posts που οδηγούν σε CCT αν έχεις κάνει κομμάτι της εκπαίδευσής σου εκτός UK; Επισήμως δεν έχω δει κάτι τέτοιο ως τώρα, αλλά επειδή κάθε φορά που το διαβάζω απογοητεύομαι (όπως κατάλαβες έχω κάνει κι εγώ κομμάτι της ειδικότητάς μου εκτός), δεν άντεξα να μην σε ρωτήσω.

Rules change all the time. This is not about training, its about keeping tabs on the number of doctors in training.

According to the GMC if you don't do ALL of your training in the UK, you are not getting a proper CCT. A CESR (aka article 14) is no different *allegedly* if you are planing to work as a consultant in the UK , but, not you will not be recognised as a trained specialist anywhere else...

These days of economic austerity, oversupply of docs and what not I would not be surprised if ,unofficially, a CESR is not really equivalent to a CCT, even in the UK (but this is my own personal opinion, and I've well recognised paranoid tendencies).

Well 'it doesn't work like that' I'm afraid...

Experience caps would force you to apply to CT2 if you had more than 18m psych experience in Greece, and then...you would not be eligible for a full CCT (?!).

Σε ευχαριστώ για τις πληροφορίες. Μάλλον θα απευθυνθώ ξανά στο deanery, γιατί μου είχαν απαντήσει ότι μπορώ να συνεχίσω σε ST3 training posts με "equivalent CMT" και full MRCP, οπότε δεν είχα καταλάβει ότι δεν μπορώ να κάνω αίτηση για CCT στο τέλος, αλλά μόνο για CESR.

Deanery drones often mindlessly quote the 'gold guide' or the person specs....

Without UK experience you'd prolly struggle to complete your ST3 application bits regarding your 'audit', 'research', 'management experience', 'teaching'... thus, you might not score over the shortlisting threshold no matter how well you did on the MRCP :/

Also, how will you 'prove' ST1 & 2 competencies? (technicalities...but still...)

If by any chance I'm wrong abut the CESR/CCT problem, plz feed back to the forum

There is NO direct equivalence between Greek and UK medical grades.

A consultant enjoys the prestige and power of a greek Dieuthinndis.

A consultant is a trained specialist ,a CCT holder. In theory one can be a consultant at the tender age of 31.

In Greece: eppimelites A & B can consider themselves 'consultants' (they have a CCT!).

In the UK: senior registrars/associate specialists/ (staff grades) can boast to their Greek friends that their responsibilities are equivalent to those of a Greek eppimelity (even though they are NOT on the specialist register).

If/when the subconsultant grade is introduced in the UK individuals working in these jobs would prolly be a more logical equivalent to the greek eppimelites.

This is my own impression of the pecking order...
